01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Roma Norte, Ciudad de México, Cardinal Casa de Café is a sanctuary for true coffee aficionados and casual visitors alike. More than just a coffee shop, this charming café artfully blends quality, ambiance, and a thoughtfully curated menu to offer an experience that lingers long after your last sip.

At Cardinal Casa de Café, each pour-over coffee is a small masterpiece. Choose from their meticulously brewed options such as the December Dripper, Kalita Wave, or V60, each delivering a distinctive light and fruity profile that captures the essence of specialty coffee craftsmanship. For those seeking icy refreshment, their cold coffee selections like the Affogato — a delightful fusion of velvety ice cream and intense espresso — and the zesty Espresso Tónico offer invigorating contrasts to warm beverage classics.

The café's sandwich menu is equally compelling, showcasing a balance of savory and fresh ingredients that beg to be savored slowly. The Norte Ham, layered with gouda, ripe tomato, and crisp lettuce embraced by a buttery brioche bun, exudes comfort with every bite. Meanwhile, the Valery sandwiches with creamy brie cheese, apple compote, and peppery arugula create a harmonious melody of sweet and tangy notes on rye bread — a choice option for those craving something both sophisticated and satisfying.

Stepping into Cardinal Casa de Café, you are immediately enveloped by a cozy yet lively atmosphere. The mix of indoor intimacy and an inviting open space allows for relaxed conversation or quiet contemplation. Several patrons have noted the warm and attentive service, though a candid review mentioned a moment of curt interaction, reminding us that behind every great café are human moments that can vary day by day.

Visitors consistently laud the quality of the coffee, often seeking seconds just to savor the depth and nuances of Cardinal’s brews. The café's dedication to crafting perfect drinks extends beyond taste—it’s a sensory experience marked by beautiful café art and the soothing ambiance of soft chatter and gentle breezes from their outdoor seating.

Whether you are a devoted coffee lover looking to indulge in expertly made single-origin drips or someone eager to unwind with a delicious, wholesome sandwich and cold cappuccino on a warm afternoon, Cardinal Casa de Café promises a genuine, heartfelt experience. Its blend of exquisite flavors, inviting setting, and genuine passion make it a must-visit gem in the bustling coffee scene of Ciudad de México.

Lovely coffee - the coffee was so lovely that I had a second cup. The one-star goes to the staff who is petite with glasses and tattoos. Perhaps he was having a bad morning, he was giving my friend and I an attitude, very unwilling to help. Hope he sees this review and improve from it.

Loved the coffee- we tried the latte and the cappuccino and both were great. We actually bought some coffee beans to take home with us.

A cozy café with great pastries but misses the mark on drinks. We sat outside and had our drink orders taken right away. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk, but it was a huge disappointment. It tasted like warm milk with no hint of chai. On the other hand, the cappuccino we ordered had beautiful café art, which was a nice touch. The café itself was charming, and the outdoor space was a great spot for a chat, though the chairs were incredibly uncomfortable. The staff, for the most part, was nice, especially the barista who handled our bill. When we went inside to pay, I noticed a variety of pastries, and the cinnamon roll with coconut bits caught my attention. I took it to go, and after warming it up at home, it was delicious. I would have preferred to enjoy it at the café, which was a bit of a shame. Prices were average for the area (chai latte was $70 with an extra $20 for oat milk). While the café was a delight, the chai latte was a huge letdown, but the cinnamon roll was a great surprise.

A charming coffee spot with well crafted pour-overs. I wandered in about half an hour before closing, and the barista was kind enough to still make me a cup. The coffee was beautifully light and fruity, and it was a treat to savor it in the open space with the evening breeze flowing through. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

Cute , quiet little coffee shop in a nice neighborhood. The coffee was excellent. The pastries were good. They were a small shop so limited on offerings. It was a nice day to sit outside and enjoy the goings on around me. For both the latte and pastry cost was about $3.50 USD

Super chill spot in Roma Norte. Had a great Carmel latte to go as we wondered around. Staff was super friendly. I’d go back…… indeed I came back on my next visit. Still think this is the best coffee in Roma Norte. Latte Rex!
